Close to Nature
Stroll through our beautiful grounds and get more acquainted with some of our native animals. Colourful birds frequent the gardens and you can spotlight some of our possums and other nocturnal animals at night. A short walk to Canungra creek affords the chance of spotting the very shy platypus.

   

Farther on is Lahey's Tramway Tunnel - the tunnel is one of the only remaining historical features reminding us of the timber getting that led to the foundation of Canungra. The Museum of Australian Military Intelligence is open Tuesdays and Thursdays and the first weekend of each month.



Arts and Crafts
'The most extensive Arts Trail in South-east Queensland is easily accessed from Canungra. It features more than 15 working artists' studios, plus their galleries. In addition, in Canungra Township, the Rivendale Gallery displays, and offers for sale, an extensive collection of works by selected national and international artists.

Wineries
Follow the boutique wine trail ( see www.gold coastwinecountrycom.au) and discover why our local wine-makers and distillers are winning numerous awards, both National and International.Just a short drive away, Canungra Valley Vineyards are a picture perfect venue featuring a historic Queenslander fully restored. The pristine stream at the back is home to a platypus family. Just a kilometre away set in a little-travelled, hidden valley is the welcoming Sarabah Estate and Winery. Recently Awarded as best Queensland boutique winery is Albert River Winery, adjacent to historic Tamborine House , a short drive away. Aussie Vineyards Witches Falls Winery, Cedar Creek Estate Vineyard & Winery, Heritage Wines and Tamborine Mountain Distillery are situated on scenic Tamborine Plateau - home to local crafts and well endowed with spectacular national parks featuring rainforests and cascading streams, home to reclusive native birds such as the Albert Lyrebird and both Satin and Regent Bower birds

Adventure Activities
The Canungra township boasts the Hang-gliding Club of South East Queensland. Within short drives there are three excellent launching sites. Both tandem flights and licence courses are available from well qualified instructors.

Para-Gliding can be experienced at the Para-gliding centre of South East Queensland, just a short drive away. Take to the sky with a fully certified tandem instructor. Courses range from a two-day introductory lesson to a seven day licence course.

Leisure Activities.
Visitors are welcome at the Bowls Club and also the Golf Club at the near-by Kokoda Barracks. Tamborine Mountain Golf Club is only a short drive away and features spectacular views.
Horse riding is available in the area with short and full day rides on offer. Riders may explore the beautiful Biddaddabba valley, Canungra valley or even to the edge of Lamington plateau. Scenic drives abound with choices of valley routes and steeper, mountain roads. Numerous National Parks featuring ancient rainforests are an easy drive away. O'Reillys famous tree-tops suspension walk is world class.

Canungra Rodeo July(Dates vary) , Canungra Show in August (last weekend), Canungra Camp Draft (dates vary), Canungra show Jumping in July, Canungra valley Polo events Sept/Oct (4weeks) Canungra Hang Gliding 10 day Classic in September, Canungra Paragliding 10 day Cup in September.

Eating Out
The township and surrounds feature a range of licenced and BYO resteraunts. Visitors comment on the excellent cuisine available and the genuine welcome shown to guests. Numerous cafes afford the traveller a delicious snack.

Shopping
Local art and craft shops and antique shops display interesting and beautiful works with market venues in surrounding centres, being on either a Saturday or a Sunday. Bargains and unusual items abound.

Markets
Few localities can offer such a wide choice of "village-style" markets as Canungra. Within a short drive are colourful market venues operating on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Saturdays, and the 2nd, 3rd and last Sundays. In addition, a local "Producers' Market"is held on every Sunday
